Education
An ICT leading destination
Tunisia becomes an attractive platform for ICT services , while becoming a true regional development center for software and engineering support, with more than 220 call centers, employing more than 20.000 people, and hundred of international software firms employing 5.000 engineers ensuring an export of more than 40 M$ in 2007.
This IT progress, is due partly to an increase in the number of students registered in ICT sections, more than 41.000 students during the academic year 2006-2007, as a proportion of 12,6% of the full number of students; and the reinforcement of the ICT training of specialists, with 8.000 graduates for the academic year 2006-2007, as 13,2% of new higher education graduates.
These high level graduates have an important multilingualism, thanks to the geographical proximity of Tunisia with the European countries.
In few years, the number of students has grown seven-fold and increased from 37.000 in 1986 to 367.627 students in 2007.
More than 7.000 graduates in Information and Communication Technologies will enter the labor market during the five next years.
To encourage and support this growing number of students, huge efforts were made in term of educational infrastructure.
